Wow! What a year!

Wow! What a year! Now fully set-up in our superb workshop facility in Nairobi, 2009 has seen Made collaborate with the likes of Alexa Chung, Peaches Geldof, Erickson Beamon, Bex Rox, Nathalie Sergent, Jamie Ruben, Brian Crumley & Pippa Small on stunning collections for UK retailers such as Whistles, Monsoon, Top Shop, Oxfam, John Lewis and Jigsaw. Like we said, it’s been a busy year!
In addition Made is proud to report that we are now employing over 50 Kenyan artisans, generating growing employment opportunities in one of the worlds’ most impoverished areas. Made are proud to offer their employees their own bank account, medical assistance, housing allowance, travel allowance and hot meals every day – this is practically unheard of in Nairobi but Made are working hard to offer opportunities to help alleviate poverty in the area.
We’re also pleased to tell you that based on Made’s experience with working with local communities Made is now closely working in partnership with MADE AFRICA, a registered charity in England and Wales, representing an opportunity for us to raise funds for some of our community projects such as the Bidii school in Kibera, Nairobi. Made Africa has just completed renovation of the school building, allowing the 120 pupils to be taught in separate class rooms of Infants and Juniors. You can learn more about our charitable projects at www.madeafrica.org

Right now Made Africa is organising a sponsored trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in July 2010. We’re on the look out for trekkers/fundraisers so please get in touch if you think you have the legs and lungs to climb one of Africa’s monumental landmarks.
