anna rose
Anna Rose was born in London and often travelled in Africa as a child. She moved to Nairobi to start up her own company after graduating in fine art at the Glasgow School of Art.
The bright colours and unique designs of local Kenyan fabrics inspired her to begin a line of beachwear, but the poor conditions and low pay of many workers she encountered sparked an interest in fair trade.
Anna went on set up a collection of workshops with other like-minded businesswomen to produce quality designs under ethical conditions. She also worked with a number of community-based projects across Kenya.
Anna travels widely in Kenya, seeking inspiration for her designs in the country's majestic landscapes and the artistic traditions of craftsmen and women. This forms the inspiration behind her unique products that fuse African styles with modern design technology. She is now the general manager for made Kenya, with responsibility for production, product development and social development.
