Laura Bailey

Laura Bailey

Laura was born in Oxford in 1972, educated locally and graduated with a 1st class Honours degree in English Literature from Southampton University in 1993.

Since then Laura has pursued a career in freelance journalism alongside international success as a renowned model. She has written for, amongst others, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, Glamour, GQ, The Daily Telegraph, Sunday Times Style and The Independent.

Fashion and beauty campaigns include Guess Jeans, Ray-Ban, L'Oreal, Jaguar cars, Clairol, Marks & Spencers, Pantene and Temperley London. In addition, Laura also currently blogs twice-weekly for Vogue.co.uk and is an active campaigner for ethical and fair-trade fashion.

Laura lived in New York for five years but is now based in London. She has two small children, Luc, 5, and Lola Tiger, 2, and is an ambassador for the children's charity Barnardos. She also supports the Hoping Foundation, Comic Relief and Film Club. She continues to combine her love of fashion with her work as a writer, alongside family life.

Laura's tireless work to help promote fair-trade coupled with her love of vintage and recycling treasures made her the perfect choice for a collaboration with Made.

Earlier this year Laura spent 10 days at the Made Kenya workshop developing her inaugural collection and working closely with our highly skilled development team. Materials for the collection include recycled brass, Maasai beads and recycled glass resulting in a fashion-savvy collection that is responsibly sourced.

Laura Bailey product

The Laura Bailey for Made collection is available exclusively at John Lewis and Made online. John Lewis's support of environmental projects worldwide and their constant improvement of product quality, whilst retaining rigorous ethical standards, meant they were the perfect partner to exclusively stock the Laura Bailey collection.

Laura's sophisticated yet edgy collection is an eclectic mix, drawing inspiration from vintage treasures, Africa and the Jasmine bud - which became Laura's signature throughout the collection.
