Sarah Rhodes

Formally trained a as ceramicist and glassmaker, Sarah travelled the world to learn jewellery design. She worked with artisans in Ecuador and Mexico and established her own workshop on the edge of the Okavango Delta in Botswana, where she lived for nearly twelve years. Currently based in London, Sarah is developing her work further by taking a MA in Design: Jewellery at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design. Her signature collection is influenced by her experiences in Africa and concerns transformation. The vibrant colours and textures of this varied continent are translated into unique pieces of jewellery.

Sarah has a background of working in sustainable livelihoods in the developing world, giving her a passion for beautiful, handmade products. She has worked with the San Bushmen in the Kalahari, the Tuareg and Fulani in Mali and the Kichwa in Ecuador advocating economic empowerment for these marginalised peoples.
After living and working in Southern Africa, her link with the continent continues as she researches African jewellery production whilst developing the curriculum for Botswana's first jewellery design and manufacture course.
