simon munyua – glass artisan
Although largely self-taught, Simon perfected his glass-making skills at Kitengela, learning various staining and glass-fusing techniques. He later became an instructor, teaching disadvantaged women how to make beads from recycled glass.
More recently, Simon and his wife started a small business specialising in stained glass lampshades and blown glass candleholders. Despite the quality of his products, Simon's business began to struggle and he was forced to lay off several workers.
Thankfully made became aware of Simon's talent and he is now working with us, creating beautiful beads and other glass accessories. He is also planning to recall his old workforce to help fulfil the increase in orders.
